The Rossmoor Men’s Golf Club (RMGC) is sponsoring the fourth annual Marshal Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Oct. 14 by holding the Jerry Weinstein Memorial Golf Tournament.

The tournament is also a fundraiser for the First Tee of Contra Costa County, an organization that provides training and opportunities for the advancement of youth golf.

This event honors Rossmoor golf course marshals past and present who keep the game moving and enforce the rules that help keep the course in good playing shape.

For many years before he died, Weinstein enjoyed golfing with friends and marshaling, too, where he was respected by all as fair and dedicated to the game of golf. Following in his footsteps, this year’s marshals show up each week no matter what the weather to do their duty while having fun at the same time. This tournament is a way to recognize the group and thank them for their service.

The 2026 crew, led by Margo Dutton, includes Brock Arner, Lauralee Barbaria, Chuck Benson, Jay Kutler, John Lee, Bill Schneider and Tom Stinson.

This golf tournament is open for play to all members of all Rossmoor golf clubs. Registration will take place through a Golf Genius invitation from John McDonnell on Thursday, Oct 1. The game format is simply a fun round of golf where everyone plays from the gold tees; no handicap indexes will be applied.

The low gross male and female golfers will be the tournament winners and awarded the Jerry Weinstein Memorial Trophies by Weinstein’s widow, Denise Betz-Madeiros. A light lunch with beverages and cake will be served on the Dollar patio after golf.

Note that proceeds from this event will benefit First Tee of Contra Costa County, so sign up for a fun day of golf celebrating Weinstein’s life and saluting Rossmoor golf course marshals, plus support First Tee youth golf in the Bay Area.
