The Rossmoor End of Life Concerns Club will hold a program on religious and spiritual traditions at the end of life on Monday, Oct. 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Club Room at Creekside.
The program will feature four panelists: Rabbi Debra Hachen, rabbi emerita of Congregation B’nai Shalom and Rossmoor resident; the Rev. Will Scott of St. Anselm Episcopal Church; the Rev. Carol Dolezal, retired Hospice chaplain; and Sensei Alan Block with the Everyday Zen center.
Each panelist will discuss perspectives from their theology and spiritual tradition, including Judaism, Christianity and Buddhism. A Q&A session will be held at the end of the presentations. This program is co-sponsored by Rossmoor’s Interfaith Council and Buddhist Study Group.
Speakers will address topics such as the important rituals and practices recommended before dying; use of life support interventions and its withdrawal; organ donation and transplantation; determining when death occurs; use of Medical Aid in Dying; and cremation vs. burial.
Panelists will also discuss frequent questions and con-
cerns from congregants as they approach their final days. Handouts providing information on various religious and spiritual practices will also be available.
All Rossmoor residents are welcome to attend this presentation. Due to three Rossmoor Clubs sponsoring this program, a large attendance is expected. Arrive early to find available seating.

The location of the labyrinth
The labyrinth is located on an eastern hillside just off Saklan Indian Drive. From Rossmoor Parkway, turn on to Saklan Indian Drive. The entrance to the labyrinth is about a half-mile from Rossmoor Parkway and Saklan Indian. Go up past the Eagle Ridge sign. From the sign, the entrance is about 2/10ths of a mile. The entrance is on the right where there is a paved fire road with a chain blocking driver access. There is a sign that says “trail” and “labyrinth.” It is a short walk up the fire road to the labyrinth. It is under the oak trees at the top of the hill on the right. If driving up, do not block the street or homeowners’ driveways when parking.
