Computer Club’s Flash Class schedule for October released

The Computer Club of Rossmoor announces October dates for Flash Classes. These classes focus on a single, narrowly defined topic and last 45 to 60 minutes. Visit the Computer Club website at www.caccor.com for more detailed class descriptions.

October’s classes are:

1. Managing Your Apps – Learn to set up the pages of your Home screen intentionally, creating files that work with the way that you use your iPhone. Learn to hide or lock apps that contain private information. Instructor: Sandra Houserman. This class for users of iPhone will be taught on Monday, Oct. 12 at 3:45 p.m. in the Computer Center.

2. What’s New in the Apple “27” Updates? – Apple recently released the next version upgrades of all its operating systems. This class will summarize the new features, including the Siri AI, along with some useful tips and tricks. Instructor: Gerry Hornik. This class for iPhone or iPad users will be taught on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. on Zoom.

3. Seniors and AI: What’s in it for Us? ‒ This class will focus on artificial intelligence applications that can be used in daily life. What should users pay attention to and be careful about? Why are the giants of the tech world pushing their brands ‒ Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Apple Intelligence? Instructor: Craig Pratt. This class for all devices will be taught on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. on Zoom

4. Siri – Siri is a voice-activated assistant that can be invaluable to daily life. The class will explore some of the many ways to use Siri. From making a phone call, getting directions, setting a timer or an alarm and reading a calendar, or setting a Reminder, Siri is a perfect enhancement to make life work better. Instructor: Sandra Houserman. This class for iPhone, iPad or Mac will be taught on Monday, Oct. 19 at 3:45 p.m. in the Computer Center.

5. How to Use the Free Digital Content and Apps from the Public Library – Learn to access the various Public Library content including audiobooks, Kindle books, magazines, newspapers, movies and much more. Digital Resources covered will include Libby (for books and audiobooks), Flipster (for magazines), LinkedIn Learning (for free training classes), language training and more. Instructor: Harris Greenberg. This class at the beginner level will be taught on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. on Zoom.

These classes are free but are available only to members of the Computer Club. Class size is limited; if the class is full, there will be a wait list. Full classes are often repeated to accommodate those on the wait list. To enroll in a Flash Class, go to the Computer Club website (link: www.caccor.com). Registration for October classes starts Thursday, Oct. 1. Click the “FlashClass” menu item at the top of the website, then scroll down to the blue Enroll button. On the log-in page, members should enter their email address and password, select the class they want and click Register.
