By Deborah Rose Senior manager of executive services
There is one open position on the Rossmoor Walnut Creek (RWC) Audit Committee. The appointment is for a three-year term.
Residents interested in serving on the Audit Committee are invited to apply by submitting their resume or qualifications, along with a brief statement explaining why they would like to serve on the committee, to Assistant Secretary Deborah Rose by email at drose@rossmoor.com no later than Monday, Oct. 12.
Contact Rose at 1-925-988-7710 with any questions. The Audit Committee as-
sists the RWC Board in fulfilling its responsibilities related to financial reporting, risk management, internal controls and audit functions. The committee also works with RWC’s independent external auditor, and reviews matters related to the annual audit and RWC’s financial reporting processes.
Candidates must have access to a laptop or personal computing device that can connect to the internet. Committee materials are distributed through a web-based agenda platform, and Audit Committee meetings are conducted in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and Zoom participation.
Applicants for the vacancy will be interviewed as part of
the appointment process. Following the interview process, the RWC Board president will nominate a candidate for consideration and approval by the RWC Board.
For additional information about the Audit Committee, including its responsibilities and membership requirements, residents may review the Audit Committee Charter by visiting the Rossmoor Walnut Creek page on www. myrossmoor.com – RPM & Governance – Rossmoor Walnut Creek and scroll to the bottom of the webpage.

By AARP Tax-Aide
AARP Tax-Aide is looking for volunteers to become members of a team providing free tax-preparation service in Contra Costa County.
Tax-Aide needs individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences. While prior tax-preparation experience is beneficial, it is not a requirement. The program provides comprehensive training and ongoing support to ensure that all volunteers feel confident and capable in their roles.
Volunteer positions include tax counselors, who are trained by Tax-Aide and certified by the IRS and client facilitators, who schedule appointments and assist clients at tax sites.
Orientation sessions will be held in December and certification classes start in January 2027. Tax-preparation service is from February through April 15, 2027.
Visit Tax-Aide’s website at www.tinyurl.com/tax-ccc for additional client information. To learn more and apply online, visit www.aarpfoundation.org/taxaidevolunteer or call 1-925-726-3199 for additional information.
The Tax-Aide program is administered by the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, the California Franchise Tax Board and Contra Costa County. Volunteers do not need to be AARP members.
