The Third Mutual Board of Directors met on the morning of Sept. 14 at the Gateway Board Room.
The Third Mutual Board of Directors appointed Rodger Schmitt to fill the vacant director position for District 14 (Projects 36 and 37.) This seat has been vacant following Nan Warren’s election to the Rossmoor Walnut Creek (RWC) Board in June.
Schmitt’s appointment will be effective at the next scheduled board meeting on Oct. 12. Schmitt has been a resident for a year, having previously moved from Washington state. He had an extensive career in the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
He also served for 12 years on the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission as well as other of commissions and committees in Washington state.
Landscape Manager Jesus Morales reported that a Request for Proposals has been issued to three companies to perform landscape work for Third Mutual when the current contract expires. The responses are expected shortly. At the direction of the board, a fourth vendor will be considered for participation.
Morales also reported that annual tree walks have been conducted in most of the projects, with the remainder to be completed shortly.
Building Manager Rick West updated the board on the ongoing replacement of smoke detectors. This program replaces smoke detectors on a nine-year cycle. Five-Star Construction is managing this, and is on schedule to complete the work in November.
West also reported that the plan to replace aging electric panels is awaiting PG&E approvals.
The board also reviewed and approved the scheduled investment rollovers for the individual projects.
The next meeting of the board will be Monday, Oct. 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the Gateway Board Room.
