By Projects 4 Parkinson’s Club

In August, the Projects 4 Parkinson’s Club (P4P Club) was approved as an official Rossmoor organization. Derived from Pickleball 4 Parkinson’s, the P4P Club’s Steering Committee re-branded its efforts to expand its fundraising portfolio of supporting Parkinson’s research.

The club’s founding board of directors is President Nancy Munson, Vice President Leanne Hamaji, Secretary Lu Lynn de Silva, Treasurer Judy Bentley and Director Kailani Kimoto.

Since its debut four years ago, Pickleball 4 Parkinson’s has raised more than $400,000 for The Michael J. Fox Foundation. During that time, the

Steering Committee realized how Parkinson’s has touched so many residents, families

and friends. As an example, almost every one of the 90 players in the 2026 pickleball tour

nament knew someone who either had Parkinson’s or cared for someone with this disease. In addition, people in 17 states and Canada contributed to the 2026 fundraising campaign. The goal of the P4P Club will be to function as a service organization and hold fundraisers for Parkinson’s research through various types of events. The flagship Pickleball 4 Parkinson’s will remain an annual event as part of the P4P Club’s portfolio of activities.

The P4P Club has two upcoming fundraising events in 2026: Pastries 4 Parkinson’s and Pulseras (bracelets) 4 Parkinson’s jewelry sale. Both will be held at the Rossmoor Fall Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 7 in the Fireside Room. All proceeds will go to directly to

The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The first organizational club membership meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. in Multipurpose Room 3 at Gateway. Membership meetings will be held quarterly.

The P4P website, www.projects4parkinsons.com, contains information about membership, volunteering and upcoming events.

Rossmoor residents can join the effort to fight Parkinson’s by signing up to become a P4P Club member at www.projects4parkinsons.com and/or supporting P4P fundraising events. Membership is only $10, with dues used for club expenses.

Trash Tip

“Flushable wipes” are not flushable. Instead of dissolving, they stay intact as they travel through pipes, wrap around pumps and clog the sewer.

Consider carpooling or taking the Rossmoor bus to events at the clubhouses

to ease traffic congestion and parking.

By Al-Anon
