The Rossmoor Art Association (RAA) invites all residents and their guests to a new Gateway art exhibition of recent works by Rossmoor resident artists, starting on Friday, Oct. 2. The hanging of the new show will take place that morning so that viewing can begin in the afternoon.

Residents can enjoy viewing this new fine art by visiting the public areas at Gateway, including in the Redwood Room. They’ll see a variety of artistic styles and media, including watercolor, acrylic and oil, drawings, collage, from abstract to representational and everything in between. Much of the art will be the products of the RAA classes.

Members of the RAA who would like to be included in the new exhibit should bring their work on Friday, Oct. 2 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to the Redwood Room (previously was at Oak Room) at Gateway. Active members can bring in two pieces with their liability form, and the volunteers will process artwork that is properly wired for hanging.

See the RAA website for detailed requirements, guidelines and size requirements, which will be maximum 36-inch width, 48-inch length. Forms for submitting works for exhibit are available on the website and in Gateway Art Studio I.

Art can be realistic, abstract, impressionistic, surrealistic, mixed media, collage, charcoal, pastel, graphic, etc.; however, no giclee prints or photographs will be accepted.

Artists with work now hanging at Gateway must remove them also on Friday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon. If necessary, artists should arrange with someone to do this for them. Paintings not picked up will be left in the Gateway foyer.

Creekside art: On Monday, Oct. 5, the present artwork at Creekside hallways will be removed so that the Photography Club can put up its works. Artists should come from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. to pick up their work now hanging. Uncollected works will be in the area by the Creekside main entrance. The next Creekside art exhibit will start Monday, Dec. 7. It will be juried and will have a food theme with an emphasis on pears.

There is no charge for members to exhibit; however, RAA exhibits are limited to paid RAA members only. Yearly dues can be paid online at the RAA website. If residents have difficulties submitting credit card information, they can ask for help in the Computer Club office.

The RAA offers classes in all media by highly qualified instructors. Rossmoor residents are invited to visit www. rossmoorart.com to learn about upcoming classes, workshops and demonstrations. Residents can pursue their creativity while meeting other residents in a non-judgmental, fun setting.
