The Rossmoor Library Speaker Series invites residents and friends to “Buried Secrets, Hidden Trauma” with Rhona and Harvey Weinstein on Monday, Oct. 12 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Rossmoor Library (Gateway).

In 1921 Vienna, gifted Jewish writer and former child prodigy Eisig Lubetzky died by suicide, leaving behind a wife, three children and a silence that shaped generations.

Nearly a century later, his psychologist granddaughter and her psychiatrist husband began a decades-long search to understand who he was and why his life ended. Drawing on forgotten manuscripts, family stories, and newly translated writings, their book, “The Empty Envelope,” blends mystery, biography and memoir. It is both a historical excavation and a personal odyssey.

Spanning Belarus, Vienna, Montreal and the Bay Area, the authors explore intergenerational trauma, buried truths, and the redemptive power of storytelling to heal what silence could not. Time for comments and questions will follow the presentation.

Seating is limited and sorry, no reservations. The Library Speaker Series looks forward to seeing residents. Email kit. kennedy@yahoo.com with questions.
