Residents can sign up to receive Nixle text messages by sending a text from their phone.
Texting Rossmoor to 333111 will opt-in their cell number to receive Nixle messages sent to Rossmoor residents.
The Nixle community mass notification system is how the RWC Board and staff keep residents up to date on important information.
Residents must opt-in to Rossmoor Nixle and register a mobile or home phone or email address or any combination of the three, to receive messages via their selected method. For residents who use a cell phone, RWC recommends only registering the cell phone for text messaging as phone calls and texts come in at the same time. Additionally, text messaging will include a hyperlink that takes subscribers to a detailed message. Finally, RWC recommends registering an email, as non-urgent community information will be sent via only email.
In addition to the texting
method detailed above, residents can register using one of the following three options: 1) online using the Nixle link at the bottom of the homepage at www.MyRossmoor.com; 2) calling the Nixle registration number at 1-925-988-7688; or 3) completing a form and submitting it to Public Safety.
There are three levels of Nixle messages and which one a resident receives depends on the delivery option (phone call, text or email) they selected.
Alert messages: These are reserved for critically important information, where

loss of life and/or property is potentially imminent inside Rossmoor.
These messages are time critical and include fire, evacuation or shelter-inplace orders issued by civil authorities and requiring immediate action, and police actions inside or near Rossmoor that may impact the safety of the Rossmoor community. Alert messages are sent by text, call and email.
Advisory messages: These are intended to communicate need-to-know information. While less time critical, they still require a height-
ened sense of awareness. These messages can include water and power outages, road closures inside or near Rossmoor, information or orders by civil authorities that impact daily life activities, severe weather and incidents outside Rossmoor that might impact the safety of residents. Text and email are used to deliver these messages; sometimes phone calls are used, depending on the severity of the information.
Community messages: These are used to relay everyday information, including details about events, com-
munity services and general community information. They are less time critical and sent only by email.
As RWC cannot manage a subscriber’s delivery choice, residents who are already subscribed to Nixle must contact support@nixle.com if they wish to change a delivery option to phone call, text message or email.
However, if subscribers want to add a delivery message such as an email, they can use one of the registration options described above and register an email or phone number.

Rossmoor has many ballroom dancing opportunities, but it can be challenging for people to figure out which clubs or dances are most appropriate for them. Some dance clubs hire bands, while others use a DJ to provide the music.
Some include a dinner; others not. Some call for dressy attire; others more casual. This article explains all this as well as when and where each club meets, and whom to contact with questions.
It also addresses dance lesson opportunities within Rossmoor. With just a few dance lessons, residents will be ready to explore some of the great dancing opportunities the community has to offer. All dance clubs welcome dancers at all levels.
Ballroom dance lessons Ballroom dance lessons are offered weekly year round for all Rossmoor residents, singles and couples. These lessons are sponsored by the Sunday Dancers Club and are for anyone interested in learning
more about ballroom dancing, or to add new steps and style to their repertoire. On Wednesday afternoons, from 2 to 3 p.m., Gail Enright teaches beginner-level American Smooth ballroom dances in the Diablo Room at Hillside. And from 3 to 4 p.m., she teaches at the intermediate level. The dances taught change each month. For more information, contact Enright at gailenright@comcast. net or 1-925-284-1003 or look for her regular articles in the Rossmoor News.
